Schools and Healthcare

Elementary school P.S. 34, Junior High School 109 and Martin Van Buren High School are all located within Queens Village. To add additional capacity a major elementary/junior high school construction project has recently broke ground on Jamaica Avenue and 225th Street. Queens Village is also within 5 miles of St. Johns University, Queens College, Queensborough Community College and York College. Additionally a magnet school and several day care centers are located within the district.

 

Several major hospitals including: Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore Medical Center and Queens General Hospital are in close proximity to the area.

 

Parks & Recreation

Alley Pond Park and Belmont Racetrack are two notable parks tied to Queens Village, with Cunningham Park and the Bayside Marina nearby. The community is in close proximity to movie theaters, major beaches, sports stadiums and other places of interest.

 

While Queens Village has the potential to be an extremely vibrant community there are several challenges that need to be effectively addressed in order for the community to reach it’s full potential.

  • ELKS Lodge, formerly The Queens Lyceum built in 1890 was the cultural center if the area
